Knowledge is true confidence. The more I learned about my role, the more confidence I had. I learned how to use File Maker Pro and different casting websites. A couple of months later, they decided to switch up the teams. This was after my producer, and I had a tiff over casting. Like all work environments, disagreements sometimes happen. I learned from this, though. I learned to not lose my cool and to take a breath. Honestly, it’s embarrassing, but I cried in the executive producer’s office because I was so frustrated. I felt like such a girl, but it helped that she was a girl too. It wasn’t a big deal, and we got over it. The producer and I both over-exaggerated. I was trying to cast a challenging role. I was looking to cast a middle eastern family, but it was nearly impossible. I expressed to my teammates that it has been challenging and I need help. We were running out of time, and I needed support in casting for the first time since we started. My teammates were just on Facebook talking about some celebrity. I expressed my frustration to them. I said, “Guys, I really need help. Can you please get off Facebook and help me find someone.” The producer flipped out on me and said, “Why are you telling me what to do..that’s not your job.” I said, “I need help. I always help you guys with anything you need, and you guys aren’t helping me in return.” I walked out because I was getting emotional. I went outside and spoke to a coworker who was also a friend. I tried my best to calm down. When I returned to the office, they thought I went to the executive producer to tell on them. So in the ten minutes, I was out, the producer told another executive producer what happened. I returned to the office, and the producer said, ” Where did you… I said, I just went outside to get some fresh air and cool off. He said, “Oh…I thought you went to talk to a higher up….ooopps.” I said, “Why would I do that?” The next thing I knew, I was getting called into the EP office. I went in, and she asked what had happened. I told her everything as I sobbed. Give me a break; I was twenty-three years old. LOL. She understood and agreed that support should have been offered because we are a team. Then the producer was called in after me. I had expressed to the executive producer that I wanted to learn more and grow in my position. She had me join a group with a more experienced producer. She ran things a little differently. My old team and I were still cool. We hugged, made up, and all was forgotten.
Cheers,
