I watched the animated Oscar-nominated short films this past weekend. Halfway through the film, I lost my cell phone and was distracted. I found it halfway through an animated short where a naked man is flying in the air…seriously you know what was flying mid-air on the big screen.
It was beautiful to watch these films, and probably the first time I’ve seen the complete animated nominated list. It was cool. There were a lot of creative and different pieces.
A Year of Dicks was hilarious. The animation kept changing, which was fantastic. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse was long and reminded me of Winnie the Pooh. There were great lessons, but I felt we were hand-fed life lessons. I think it will win even though it isn’t my first choice. The Flying Sailor was fun too. It was his life passing him by. The Ice Merchant had an excellent animation style too.
The short animated films were as followed with their ratings.
4/5 A Year of Dicks by Pamela Ripon, Sara Gunnarsdottir
2/5 An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I think I Believe It: Lachlan Pendragon
3/5 Ice Merchants by Joao Gonzalez, Bruno Caetano
3/5 The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse by: Charlie Mackesy, Matthew Freud
4/5 The Flying Sailor by Amanda Forbes
Stay safe in the rain folks.
Cheers,
